Welcome to the Glen Leigh Santa Gertrudis Website.
The Glen Leigh Santa Gertrudis Stud was registered in 2006 after breeding Santa Gertrudis commercially for nearly 20years. We have a great passion for the breed and our aim is to breed large framed, structurally correct, fertile bulls and females who compliment our harsh wintery conditions and often dry hot summers.
Currently we are upgrading most of our Santa, Angus & Charolais herd to purebred. The stud has purchased a number of stud cows and we already have a few heifers classify, increasing our numbers annually.
Culling at weaning is based on temperament, structure and type, with further culling later based on fertility and performance.

2006 Heifers recently PTIC to Felton Park 544 (PS). Result 93%

Due to the extreme temperatures in winter we do not join our maiden heifers until they reach two year old. We have found that joining them later ensures that they have plenty of frame for calving and they can hold onto their condition after giving birth, considering they calve down in the middle of winter. This also gives them a better chance to get into calf quickly again after calving.
